Integrative psychiatry is a holistic approach to mental health care that combines traditional psychiatric methods with evidence-based complementary therapies. Instead of simply managing symptoms with medication alone, integrative psychiatry seeks to understand and address the root causes of emotional and cognitive challenges.
At Restore Psychiatry & Wellness, we use a functional approach—which means we look at how various systems in the body (like hormones, nutrition, gut health, sleep, and stress response) impact mental well-being. This allows us to create personalized treatment plans that support both mind and body.
Integrative psychiatry may include:
Thorough assessments to uncover biological, psychological, social, and lifestyle factors affecting mental health
Functional lab testing when appropriate, to identify imbalances or deficiencies
Targeted supplements or nutraceuticals to support brain health and overall wellness
Lifestyle modifications including nutrition, sleep, movement, and mindfulness practices
Therapeutic support and, when needed, medication management
This comprehensive, patient-centered approach empowers individuals to not only reduce symptoms but to achieve long-term balance, resilience, and emotional wellness.

A Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is a registered nurse who has completed advanced education (usually a master's or doctoral degree) and training in the field of mental health care. PMHNPs and Psychiatrists are both trained to assess, diagnose and treat mental health conditions with medications and psychotherapy. We often perform the same role in mental health care.
A nurse practitioner’s training emphasizes a holistic approach, which considers the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual facets of a person’s well-being. Whether you see a Nurse Practitioner or a Psychiatrist is a personal decision, but you can rest assured that if you do see a nurse practitioner, you are in well-trained, capable and compassionate hands.

We see children ages 6 and older, adolescents, young adults, and older adults. We commonly help people with ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar and other mood disorders, OCD, insomnia, trauma, and PTSD, but our approach transcends diagnostic labels. Understanding that individuals may not always fit neatly into those specific diagnoses, we approach each patient case with a fresh perspective. Together, we conduct a comprehensive assessment to truly understand your unique situation.
-
No, absolutely not. Integrative psychiatry does NOT mean anti-medication.

Frequency of visits will depend on the nature and severity of your symptoms. It is most common to meet biweekly or monthly for the first 3-6 months of treatment and then every 3 months thereafter. We have the flexibility to meet more frequently in the beginning of treatment if that is indicated and desired.
